About Me

My passion of Indian textiles and artisan products were introduced to me by my mother and the women in my family. My mom and aunts loved collecting sarees that were hand embroidered or were traditional woven from different parts of India. I grew up appreciating the textures and the story behind their sarees.

I was born and raised in Muscat, Oman and I was exposed to the beautiful grandiose and opulence of Muslim architecture and culture. I later studied and lived in various cities in south India. My passion for sketching and designing started during my school days, and when I was in college and would travel by train, I would save up money to buy fashion magazines to read while I traveled. I never had a formal education in design or sewing, but I attended classes taught by women in their homes. And I taught myself by trial and error of sewing clothing.
